The Australian travel bag that’s set to take-off

Remember airline travel? That joyous feeling of packing your bags, jumping on a plane and discovering somewhere new? It’s back!

Slowly but surely, domestic and international routes are starting to reopen. Consulting firm Bain & Company predict that by the end of 2022, airline travel could be back to 84% of 2019 levels.

Sure, we’ll have to jump through a few more hoops but it will be a worth it to see family and friends again, start ticking off those bucket list destinations and exploring something other than streaming services.

To help smooth the journey, Australian-owned leisure brand Mr Poppins+Co has created the ultimate travel bag that satisfies the over-head luggage compartment requirements of most major airlines. At 55cm L x 29cm W x 28cm H, it’s large enough to hold everything you need for a weekend away, while still being able to meet even the stingiest airline’s carry-on luggage allowance.

With a 45 litre capacity, it is one hungry bag, yet it weighs in at a very lithe 1.8 kilos so it won’t chew up your precious weight allowance.

This budding global traveller is an evolution of the brand’s hugely popular Kahoots bag – which has already taken off internationally and is now sold into the USA and Canada. It was developed in direct response to customer demand.

The Founders of Mr Poppins+Co, Terri Ioannou and Dory D’Orazio, explain, “People loved the functionality and unique aesthetic of our original Kahoots Leisure Bag so much, they kept asking if we could make it in an over-head-locker-friendly size.”

“Two years of dreaming about airline travel gave us plenty of time to perfect the ultimate carry-on bag,” they add.

The high-flying version of the Kahoots has all the clever compartments, functionality and quality of the original, just in a smaller size. There are the six internal pockets (three with zips) to store all the bits and bobs you need to travel with – laptop, chargers, cosmetics – as well as a handy separate zipped wet bag for a Mr Poppins+Co microfibre towel or dusty sneakers. It has you covered for everything from a vacay in the tropics to hiking through the hinterland.

The wide gate-mouth opening makes it a cinch to pack and unpack, and allows over enthusiastic customs officers to see and access everything quickly and easily.

The Mr Poppins+Co design duo has even considered how you travel through the airport. “With the addition of vaccine passports and RAT results, travellers’ hands are going to be full. We’ve included a comfortable cross-body strap so you don’t have to put your bag down each time someone asks to see your documents.” They’ve even included a handy pocket on the front to make it easy to keep your passport, boarding pass and chewwies on hand.

Of course all play and no work makes for a very lazy bag. Like its larger namesake, the scaled down Kahoots is designed for life beyond the Frequent Flyer Lounge. All those compartments allow you to carry your laptop, headphones and workout wear in the one bag that’s sophisticated enough for the street, compact enough for the workplace and tough enough for the gym.

It comes in the same range of exclusive Mr Poppins+Co designer prints, as well as timeless black, denim and khaki water-resistant canvas, all finished with premium custom hardware.
